Airport to Anuradhapura

After arrival welcome by our English-speaking chauffeur guide and, drive to Anuradhapura and vist Anuradhapura ancient city.

Overnight at Anuradhapura.

The Anuradhapura Kingdom named for its capital city, was the first established kingdom in ancient Sri Lanka and Sinhalese people. Founded by King Pandukabhaya in 377 BC, the kingdom’s authority extended throughout the country, although several independent areas emerged from time to time, which grew more numerous towards the end of the kingdom. Nonetheless, the king of Anuradhapura was seen as the supreme ruler of the country throughout the Anuradhapura period. Buddhism played a strong role in the Anuradhapura period, influencing its culture, laws, and methods of governance. Society and culture were revolutionized when the faith was introduced during the reign of King DevanampiyaTissa; this cultural change was further strengthened by the arrival of the Tooth Relic of the Buddha in Sri Lanka and the patronage extended by her rulers.

Anuradhapura to Sigiriya

After Breakfast, drive to Sigiriya, on the way visit Mihintale ancient city. And later climb Ritigala mountain later diver to Hotel.

Overnight at Sigiriya. 

Ritigala mountain: At 766 m (2,513 ft) above sea level, and 600 m (2,000 ft) above the surrounding plains, Ritigala is the highest mountain in northern Sri Lanka. The modern name Ritigala is derived from the ancient name AriṭṭhaPabbata (Dreadful Mountain), mentioned in the Mahavamsa.

Its elevation is higher than the other main tourist attractions of the north central plains, namely Sigiriya, Dambulla and Mihintale. The significance of this topographical feature lies in the abrupt sheerness of the massif, its wooded slopes and wet microclimate at the summit. During the North East monsoon (December to February), Ritigala experiences the highest rainfall (125 cm) of entire dry zone.

The wet micro climate at Ritigala is a singular occurrence in the north central plains, the ancient Sri Lanka’s “Wewe Bandi Rata” meaning “the land of rainwater reservoirs” in Sinhalese.

Sigiriya

After Breakfast drive to Polonnaruwa to Polonnaruwa ancient city. On the way farms Lunch (typical Village Style Cooking by handpicking your own vegetables from our organic vegetable farm and partake in cooking with our own Chefs dressed as village folk. You can interact with the chefs from picking of vegetables in the organic garden to cooking them and tasting the curries at the end of class).

Evening Minneriya or Kaudulla Eco nation parks 4×4 safari according to Elephant’s availability.

Overnight at Sigiriya.

Minneriya National Park: This national park is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. Clean forest encompasses the ponds and contains many animals, but activity watching is usually inadequate – except for the amazing periodic members of monsters (Elephant) . The ‘gathering’ occurs in Minneriya during the month of September and October, when more than 300 monsters come together on the bed of Minneriya.

Sigiriya

After breakfast visit Hiriwadunna Village Tour.

So it’s lifetime opportunity to be emerged in the nature and culture of real Sri Lanka. Village tours operate in the Small Village Called Hiriwadunna, only about a few miles from the Habarana Town. You need to consult one of the Village Safari operators to arrange your Village Tour. Complete package includes a Bullock cart ride, Boat Ride, Visit a Village House, See a local Vegetable garden, have a local lunch and Take a Tuk-Tuk Ride.

Bullock Cart Ride: Usually this 03 hour trek begins with a Bullock Cart Ride to Hiriwadunna through unbeaten village tracks. There are 2 Bulls dragging the cart and ride last long from 15mins to 30mins. Rides ends near the Hiriwadunna Lake where you get off from the cart and join for Catamaran Boat ride. 

Catamaran Boat Ride: Catamaran Boat Ride takes place on the Hiriwadunna lake. You will cruise admiring the amazing views besides the lake, which is also overlooking the Sigiriya and pidurangala rocks. If you are interested in, you can also join with the Boatman and help out rowing the boat. He might surprise you with his craftsmanship and creativity, hat for the gentleman and a beautiful necklace for the ladies. At the end of the Tour Boat will dock by the small village on the other side of the shore. 

Village House & Lunch: You can observe a traditional daily live of a real village house. Should not miss a visit to the paddy field, See a garden where endemic vegetable grown. Climb the tree house next to the paddy field where farmers sleeps at night and try to keep animals away from the paddy. You can enjoy a simple traditional meal prepared by a village woman the using the Farmer’s handpicked vegetables from the plot. If time permits, you can also see how a village woman cook a traditional meal or a roti. After lunch, there will be small presentation of how to make a roof out of coconut leaves and how to use kulla and mirisgala to separate rice seeds from the husks and straw.

 Tuk Tuk Ride: Short Catamaran Ride back to the other banks of the lake. At the end of the village tour you will be taking a Tuk-Tuk ride few-miles back to the main road- Habarana.

Sigiriya to Kandy

Earlier morning Sigiriya Rock before sun become rough which is good for pictures and climbing to the top and back to hotel for breakfast and, drive to Kandy on the way Visit Cave Temple Dambulla, Nalanda Gedige, Mathale Spice garden (only for visit) & Hindu temple later Kandy City tour and Evening Gem museum and workshop.

Cave Temple Dambulla: cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area.

Spice Garden Spice and Herbal Garden you can learn of their medicinal healing properties and how to use them in your day to day needs. Used worldwide in many medicines, the healing powers of spices have been respected from the time of the Pharaohs and Chinese Dynasties, while our herbs are used in Ayurvedic concoctions 

Sri DaladaMaligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.

Kandy

After breakfast drive to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya (Kandy) Later Visit Bahirawakanda Temple, Kandy view point and City tour.

Evening View the traditional Kandyan Cultural dance Performance and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri DaladaMaligawa).

Overnight at Kandy.

Kandy to Colombo

Morning Shopping at Kandy and on the way airport visit Tea Factory and later drive to Colombo.

Evening visit Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Independence Memorial Hall, National Museum of Colombo and later Colombo city tour and shopping.

Colombo to Airport

Today is the last day of your Sri Lanka getaway. Collect sweet memories and fly back.
